Q: How do I open an account on Vacation Rentals Lounge?

A:
Accounts on VacationRentalsLounge are free, but you need to register in order to use the site's services. To register, simply click the Register link that appears in the top right corner:

Then select an username and a password and enter your email address. Make sure that the type of account you select is Renter. It is also very important that your email address is a valid address because that is the address where you will receive the validation code:

The first time you login you will be asked for the validation code that was sent to you by email:

After you login you will notice the quick links to your account's tools:

We suggest you to immediately log into your account and update your extended profile:

Now you can start using your account and all the site's services.
Q: How do I search for properties?

A:
aThere are various ways you can use to search our site for property listings. The easiest way is to type a name of a city, town, state or region into the search box and then look for the results. The system will return all results that include your search text and will highlight the text. For example, when searching for "Brook" you will get something like this:

If you know, roughly what area you are about to search, you can use the map on the first page to first select a state. After you selected a state you can refine the search by limiting the scope of the results to a county or even a city. Once the results come up you can use the refine search bar on the left side to refine your results:

You also have the option to go to the Advanced Search page where you can select the location and all the special features of the property that you are looking for.
Q: How do I see a property's availability and rates?


A:
The property's rates and availability are visible on the property page, towards the bottom of the listing. 
Q: How do I contact a property owner?

A:
There is a contact form at the bottom of each property that allows you to send a booking request or general inquiry to the owner of the property. Some owners display a phone number as well and in that case you can use the phone number to inquire about the property. Please make sure you mention VacationRentalsLounge when you speak to the owners.
Q: How do I submit a booking request?

A:
The contact form acts as a booking request. Usually the owner would reply to you directly and let you know if the property is really available and any other details.
Q: How do I manage my favorites?

A:
The site allows you to save unlimited favorites in the following categories: Properties, Articles, Journals, Stories, Forum Posts and Users. In the favorites menu you can delete any of the favorites or access them. Each of the individual items will have a button to add or remove a favorite. 
Q: How much does it cost to use this site?

A:
The use of the site is absolutely free.
Q: How do I use the messaging system?

A:
The messaging system is designed to allow you to communicate with other members of the website and with your potential renters. Please be advised that the messaging system is being monitored and you should not abuse it. Its usage is governed by the site's terms and conditions. In regards to how to use it, it functions just like a regular webmail system. What you have to keep in mind is that the messaging system is not designed to be a repository for all your communications or as a replacement for your email and all messages are purged after 30 days.
