With year 'round hunting, fishing, golf and more, it is easy to see why the state's nickname happens to be "Sportsman's Paradise." Sure, that's a lot to live up to. But with thousands of hiking and biking trails, nearly 20 State Parks, and one of the largest game preserves in the United States, Louisiana is the ultimate playground for all outdoorsmen. Children's Museum Of Acadiana - This museum features exciting hands-on exhibits for kids who will actually have fun while learning. Dedicated to de-mystifying everyday life for children ages 2 through 12 and groups are welcome.

Cypress Manor And Mardi Gras Collection Museum - This home depicts the lifestyle of early 1900's and gives guided tours of extensive Mardi Gras costume exhibits which are changed annually.

Vermilionville - Celebrating the proud traditions and rich heritage of the Acadian settlers of the 18th century, Vermilionville features 23 beautiful acres showcasing carefully crafted period homes that reflect historic Acadian/Creole life. Craftspeople and living historians provide vivid demonstrations of arts and skills that have been preserved and handed down from previous generations.

It was the 21-room manor home of the Minor family, who helped to start the sugar industry.

Bayou Pierre Alligator Park - This 5 acre park is an authentic Cajun countryside, complete with Cajun music, genuine Cajun cuisine, and an abundance of world-famous Louisiana ""joie de vivre"". And, of course, don't forget the gators. Hundreds of alligators will entertain you with hourly feeding shows.

Alexandria Zoological Park - The zoo was founded in 1926 and encompasses 22 shady acres. There are over 500 animals including 20 endangered species. Large viewing windows in natural habitat enclosures for tigers, lions and jaguars.

Tunica Biloxi Indian Museum - The museum is home to the Tunica-Biloxi Office of Cultural and Historic Preservation and is the final resting place of "The Tunica Treasure".

arrowHodges Gardens - Hodges Gardens is one of Louisiana's most spectacular attractions. Spread over 4700 acres, this area, once considered the most barren in the state, was reforested and developed into the largest privately owned horticultural park and wildlife refuge in the U.S.A.

arrowLouisiana Political Museum And Hall Of Fame - The museum is housed in the old Winnfield railroad depot that was donated to the city by the L&A Railroad and was moved onto its present location on Main Street. The museum has accumulated over 30,000 artifacts and memorabilia relating to politicians and politics in Louisiana.
