Everybody likes to go on vacation and everybody likes to save money. Of course, there are different people with different needs and different options, but in general, it's a pretty good guess that most people like to go on vacation at least once a year, if not more. And most of them would rather do it without making a big hole in their budget.
When it comes to hotels, you rarely see discounts based on an extended stay. That's because most hotels have big costs and they spread them evenly across the year and across all the rooms they have available. So, if you rent a room for a few days, or for a few weeks, you might not get any savings on rates.
However, a lot of rental property owners realize that some families would like to have extended vacations and are willing to give significant price reductions for extended stays. Why? Well, first of all, the rental is a business. Finding customers is a part of the business and if you can get a customer to rent a big chunk of time, it helps the owner and provides the peace of mind that the property is rented. On the other hand, the less times a year the renter changes, the less trips to the property for the owner and the less between rents cleaning he or she would have to do.
Some families, or groups of friends, especially people who are retired or want to take a long sabbatical to recover, would prefer to rent a property for a whole month, also known as a rental monthly. And yes, it does sound like a long time to be in one place for a month, but remember, location is everything. If you find a nice property that is close to a bunch of activities, the time will fly. If you like fishing, hiking or visiting museums, you might find a property that is close by to all of these.
On top of that, the property can be rented for a month but used by two different families, maybe two weeks for the first one and two weeks for the second one – sort of a split rental monthly. In this way both save money and the owner is happy too. Most property owners provide cleaning services at a discounted price, so you might use that service between the two families. Also, most rentals require you to bring your own linens, so that is not an issue.
In any case, a monthly rental is not always a good idea, but it is something to think about. Maybe one month between jobs, or during a honeymoon. There are many possibilities and they all depend on what you want to get from your vacation and what your options are. So, keep in mind that rental monthly is not a bad idea as long as you use it properly.
